2mm and 4mm uric acid stones removed with ureteroscopy.

multiple kidney stones

Multiple large smooth kidney stones removed percutaneously from a single kidney. Largest stone measures 1.2 cm in size. Analysis demonstrated 70% calcium oxalate monohydrate and 30% calcium phosphate.

small-kidney-stones

Multiple small kidney stones with the appearance of bird seed. Removed with ureteroscopy from a single kidney. Largest stone measured 4mm in size. Analysis demonstrated 85% calcium oxalate monohydrate and 15% calcium phosphate.

Photo of large bladder stones

File photo of large bladder stones removed by open incision. These have a “jackstone” appearance.

Photo of staghorn kidney stone

File photo of a large “staghorn” kidney stone removed intact by open surgery. The various parts of this stone fill up an entire kidney’s central collecting system, giving it a characteristic shape appearing similar to a deer’s antlers. Stones this size are not commonly seen intact anymore as most are now treated percutaneously and broken up before being removed.

Photo of staghorn kidney stone

File photo of another large “staghorn” stone removed by open surgery.

I just passed a 7mm stone this morning. I scheduled for a litho to break it up.
I have been the following concoction for 6 weeks since I passed a 2mm stone and found out about this one that is in a medicine bottle now. Using a small, magic bullet type of blender, blend 3″ of sliced fresh ginger with a little water till it is liquid like, add 1 tablespoon turmeric and 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper. Add enough water to equal 4 cups, boil for 3 or 4 minutes. Let cool. Drink all each day mixed with some no sugar added cranberry juice over ice. Consume all of it. I drank 3 quarts a day. A little spicy but I never felt that 7mm stone till it hit the urinal. I also take 1,000 mg of capsule form turmeric with Bioperine daily for arthiritis inflammation.

I think it’s too big to pass through the ureter. You may need Ureteroscopy

Uterus tube? You probably mean the *ureter* which goes from the kidney to the bladder. The urethra is located from the outside of the body (where the urine exits) to the bladder. Then the right and left ureters go up to the kidneys. Easy to Google a pic!
As for the stones, if they’re blocking urine and causing problems, they probably have to be removed sooner v. later. Best to have an ultrasound or CT scan to check on their location and go from there. Good luck.

I have multiple stones of different sizes 21 mm, 19 mm, 16mm, 7 mm and 6 mm in my both kidneys. Doctors is saying no need of surgery. It will be pass out via urine with some medication. She suggests me to drink a plenty of water and jump.

Hari

Sorry to know this dear there is no way y can pass that big stones, Endoscopy or other surgery is mandatory for u

From my Personal exp of surgery.. right now still hospital 4mm can be passed higher than 4mm is very painful while passing. As long as it stays up u may nt have mych pain. But post descending u ll have severe pain

I just passed my second kidney stone. I read this forums and it seems it was a breeze compared with some of the other people’s experiences.
I drank lots of water with lemon juice (natural juice) flavored with a little bit of sugar to improve the taste. Also, I took Vitamin C, about 2 grams per day.
It passed in a week. The first sympthoms I notice was vomiting, urge to urinate, very frequent urination passing small amounts of urine.
For the pain, I used paracetamol and ibuprophene.
Based on my experience, my advice is, drinks loads of water with lemon juice and, if the stone does not come out in 2 weeks see the doctor.

Sheldaine

IMHO you are pretty lucky! I had a 15 mm then a 7 mm (four months apart) and both required ureteroscopies for removal. I was fortunate in that I didn’t have much pain. In both cases I presented to the ER because I had extremely bad nausea and vomiting.
I, too, have been using natural lemon juice. I add it to a bottle of water but also add some of those concentrated flavouring drops otherwise the flavour’s much too tart! So far (touch wood) no more stones!
A little word of advice: Be careful with the paracetamol (acetaminophen aka Tylenol) and ibuprofen because they can be hard on the kidneys too.
Good luck!

I haVE 0.5 size of kidney stone
what should i do

My son is 14 and was diagnosed with over 10 kidney stones. I first noticed a bloody diaper when I took him to the ER (he has cerebral palsy and he’s developmentally delayed). They put a stint in to help his urine flow. He’s getting the stones on the left blasted by a process called lithotripsy. the largest stone was 6mm. However today they discovered he has a 1 1/2 centimer stone on the right. The plan is for them to do a shock wave from the outside of the body. He’ll be sedated when they do it all.

He’s currently taking Oxybutenane (I’m sure I messed up the spelling) to prevent his bladder from spasming which could cause lots of pain. The drug is working well for him but I will be happy when he’s off of it and the stones are gone. Its bad enough he has to take anti seizure drugs.

I see a lot of mention about lemons and apple cider vinegar. I wonder if I can give it to him prophylactially after the surgery?

John

Lots of water with lemon juice (naturally squezed) did the trick for me. I also took Vitamin C (2 grams per day).
Aim to drink 2 litres of water with a couple of squezed lemons and sugar to improve the taste.
You need to explain to your son that to prevent the formation of stones, this is the solution.
Try to make it a habit: perhaps in the afernoon after 3 pm he should only drink this in abundance. Once he gets used to this routine it will enjoy the benefits.
Ah! no sugary sparkling drinks! They are the worst. Specially if they contain caffeine.

yesterday I just pass big kidney stone this was my third time in 6 years the other two was very small but was pain full two days in pain until came out by itself yesterday I had pain only I was urinating and I saw black tip in my penis tip I have to pull out by my self was painful but I did was large stone I learned the fresh Lemon juice one cup drink with No sugar or water mixed I know is hard to drink but better than the pain then after 30 min one cup of water will help a lot

the dr has done a lithotripsy four times on me, the dr says’ that the stone is 11cm!!!!!! this time the dr was able to bust the stone up..the stone is dark blood red, i am wondering if the color can tell me what not to eat or drink so i don’t get them back ever again.!!!!!!!!! i am hurting more this time then the other times it feel like i have had a bad fall where my kidney are. the dr give me some strong pain meds that will help with the pain, sometime it work and sometime it don’t, i am so sore. any advise will be appreciate .have a great day/GOD BLESS

Sheldaine

11 cm? Or mm? BIG difference? (There are 2.5 cm to 1″.) But even an 11 mm is pretty big; mine were 15 mm and 7 mm.
The stone has to be analyzed before you can be advised what to change in your diet. Your doctor should be sending the stone to a special lab to have it classified.
Good luck!

My husband has passed over 300 hundred he has passed all them drinking water an lemonade but yesterday he went to hospital yesterday he was very bad they gave him pain meds but didnt work had to give more meds so he passed it today with taking flomax it works great if you make a gallon of fresh lemonade 4 lemoms squeesed. 2cups sugar. An fill the rest with water to make a gallon drink as much as you can

I just passed 4 stones thru urine. Gave me no antibiotics just Percocet for pain and Zofran. My best advice to everyone is STAY AWAY FROM MOUNTAIN DEW, lol. I’ve learned my lesson.

Sheldaine

Yeah, I also think mine were due in large part to drinking too much Pepsi. That, and the fact I was eating way more oranges, were the only changes to my diet after I moved and before I developed the stones! Suffice to say I now add pure lemon juice to each bottle of water (and I add some concentrated flavouring drops otherwise it’s way too tart!) and have severely cut down on the pop/soda. Seems to have worked – touch wood! (I initially presented with a 15 mm stone and, four months later, with a 7 mm. Fortunately nothing since last June, though.)

Hi, I had a kidney stone, worst pian ever, went to ER, size 6mm x 4mm x 4mm. I was given tampsolosin to pass urine. n pain killers. Doctor doubt it will ever pass.

Surgery cost over 6k. I started researching. I had taken pain killers only two days at the beginning n 1 capsule of tampolosin every morning .
day 1, took 1 capsule of tampolosin, alot of water with lemons n one fresh coconut water , day 2, alot of water with lemons, and 20 oz of water with organic apple cider vinegar, and one fresh coconut water, day 3 same as day 2 and 16 oz of water with Corn Silk which helps ease the kidney stone to pass through, hoping that the stone does not damage the urinary tract or urethra tube. Day 3 n onward no pain. anywhere. Day 4, Dandelion root tea from Target store, n alot of lemon water, Day 5, lemo water, Dandelion root tea, corn silk water, and apple cider vinegar with water, Day 8, Took xray, the stone made it from right out of kidney to all the way to bladder n shrunk the size to 3.5 mm. No pain killers needed. Continued drinking water with lemon n corn silk water Day 10 morning, kidney stone was passed through urine n captured. Corn silk water is described, grab corns, gather alot of the silk, no black/brown silk, boil it with water to make about 40 to 50 oz.You can research further information about it. But that’s what I did, my grandma remedy of corn silk water. I hope anyone find this helpful as it helped me.

Two nights ago I check myself into the hospital because of intense pain in the lower left abdomen almost to the groin, all the way to the back. They put me on an IV, gave me morphine for the pain, and a CT scan. They found some Small stonesin the kidney and also in the bladder. Rather then take them out they gave me Flomax to help need to pass urine, and Percocet for the pain. But they did not take the stones out and I was discharged. I’ve been taking a little bit of olive oil, and lemon juice, and later lemon juice withapple cider vinegar, and of course a lot of water. I think it might be helping.since midnight last night I have not had any pain. And I’ve seen what appears to be super size specs in the urine in the toilet water. I’m wondering if those specs might be pieces of the stone that have passed through. In any case I will see if urologist as I can to validate the status as I am not sure that the pain will come back, or that the stones are gone. If anyone reading this is thinking of using the lemon juice olive oil and vinegar as I have described I recommend research this on the Internet to see what his work for other people And to get right portions. It’s pretty strange to be drinking a couple tablespoons of olive oil.

Hello,
I was recently told that I have a kidney stone about the size of a baseball stuck in my bladder and that the only way of removing it was with a dull blade heated over an open fire pit. Also, since I am sensitive to painkillers none will be given. Should I have this procedure done or not? The only way I can pass urine is by poking small hones through my skin and letting int out that way. I have not normally passed urine in weeks and sometimes I pass out from the pain. Is this normal? Is there a specialist around where I live I can go to?

Concerned

Oh my, that’s huge! Where do you live? You absolutely need surgery, IMMEDIATELY! I’m curious what kind of a Dr would not have performed surgery when you were diagnosed? I just passed a 2mm stone after an ER visit via ambulance 1 week ago after awoken by severe pain, sweaty & nauseous. I wasn’t given anything for pain, which was excruciating! I can now attest that kidney stones are equivalent to the pain of child birth! This all after decreased urine output for months with intermittent swelling of extremes. I recently lost my mom to sepsis (blood infection) from what was found to be a urinary tract infection only after it was too late… Please seek medical attention immediately!

Beth

Dear Pain, I would not recommend the dull blade removal. It is not a safe procedure, even with the heat cauterisation. Are you sure you have a bladder stone? It sounds to me like you might just need an enema. 🙂

Not amused

Dear pain, wow, all I can say is wow!!!!

i have multiple kidney stone size 1.5cm to 3cm…what should i do…

Marjorie

Hi. I was diagnosed with a 3cm kidney stone in July. Due to its size it blocked the flow of urine and the urine backed up in to my kidney. I had to have a nephrostomy tube put in to drain the urine until surgery which didnt take place u til 2 months later. Stones this size can cause kidney damage and loss of kidney. Luckily my kidney has 30% function so they saved it. If you have a stone that big, you need to seek medical attention, trust me, it wont pass on its own so go have it checked now
